I know many will be on my case about this post! The do- good-people are at work again, having released their report about 200,000 children being physically punished in school. I read their report, and wanted to throw up! The Human Rights Watch had a hand in this report and they definitely have an agenda.
The one sided report, illustrates how certain children are profiled and are punished using corporal punishment more often than other children. I bet you have already guessed the groups that are being profiled and therefore given the awful spanking! If you said to yourself the following groups, you were correct: African American Kids, Disabled Kids, and American Indians. In my healthy opinion, most educators don't roam around looking for poor or underprivileged children to spank. Many disabled children have what is called and A.R.D. (Admit Review Dismiss) to tell what type of discipline and study program should be used for the child! The educators follow this plan, which is set up by the parent, school, and administration. Punishing one of these children sometimes is almost impossible, because you have to follow the A.R.D.! This study is from people who are against corporal punishment and are trying to present a real gloomy picture of spanking!
Think about this point! Many parents are afraid to discipline their children, because of the anti-punishment crowd. Many parents just let the children do what they want to do or yell loudly to stop! Kids need sudden and remembered correction. All you have to do is go into schools today or go to the mall and witness how wild and unmanageable children have become!
There was a problem in Africa with young juvenile elephants. These elephants did not have any supervision or discipline, and were terrorizing and even killing the female elephants as well as other animals. The problem was solved when adult male elephants were brought into the area. The juveniles straightened up after the adults began a major discipline campaign which included physical discipline. Children of all species understand physical discipline, accepted the discipline, and learn their boundaries.
We, as a society have become such babies, that we don't accept any discipline very well. We seem to run to the nearest Attorney's office to protect us from discipline we deserve. As you know we now seem to never accept responsibility for anything! I say paddle my children, which was done, and paddle the kids that need the correction! If you remember correctly, most children never got paddled that did not deserve the punishment! Did they?
